The Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA) is now University of Antique (UA) by virtue of R.A. 9746 that was signed by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on November 10, 2009. The Republic Act shall take effect 15 days after its publication in two newspaper of general circulation. On November 23, 2009, PSCA’s key persons, deans, directors, campus administrators, Dr. Victor E. Navarra and wife Prof. Marilou Navarra, and members of the Board of Trustees traveled to Malacañan Palace to witness the ceremonial reenactment of the signing of RA 9746 by PGMA. The group was joined by the Congressman of the lone district of Antique, Hon. Exequiel B. Javier and his son Paolo and the Congressman’s staff. The President is kind enough to pose with the group not only twice but several times to accommodate the staff and personnel who traveled all the way from Zamboanga just to be part of the audience during the ceremonial signing of R.A. 9746. The dream of Antiqueño to have a university in the province has materialized after several years of anticipation. Dr. Victor E. Navarra who is the incumbent President of PSCA becomes the first President of the university soon after the effectivity of the Republic Act. /ERA Aguilar |

March 27, 2006 was a very memorable day for the members of the PSCA community as it welcomes Victor E. Navarra, Ed. D. as the 2nd President of PSCA. The final selection by the members of the Board of Trustees was done in Iloilo City on March 25, 2006. Dr. Navarra gained the highest number of votes among the four contenders for the position. He immediately took his oath of office and received his appointment as the 2nd President of PSCA on the same day. On his first day of service, Dr. Navarra called for a meeting of executive council. It was more of getting to know each other and forming committees in preparation for the up-coming turning over ceremony with Benny Palma, Ph. D., the OIC President for about six months. Local Government officials are invited to grace occasion and to welcome the new president. |
